About Me

When I was 14 years old I had an insight that has helped me immensely in my life. A boy at school said something mean to me and I was devastated, and continued to feel awful as the day went on. In a moment, I realized that the only thing keeping my bad feeling alive was my thinking. As soon as I saw that, a weight lifted, I forgot all about the insult, and I had a great day.

If you ask my parents, I went from being a moody teenager, to a much kinder, grounded adolescent. As I moved through my life, I learned more about how we create our experience via our thinking. This has helped me move through life more gracefully.

I love school and learning. I have a BA in Psychology and Art History, an MA in Counseling Psychology, and a BFA in Interior Design. I worked as a therapist in Portland, ME with children with autism, and on Oahu, Hawaii with children and their families. My next career was as a Green Building Consultant, in which I worked with commercial building project teams to create more sustainable buildings. I helped many projects obtain LEED certification and my specialty was retail projects. I enjoyed teaching all over the country and working with project teams, knowing that we were creating buildings with less impact to our earth and the people occupying the buildings. My next career was as a full-time mom. I loved being at home with my kids, Eva (now 16) and Jacob (now 20). I volunteered in the schools and I supported all of their activities and interests. Now, with my kids in a new stage of life and needing me in different ways, I am returning to counseling and coaching. I feel a strong desire to give back to the world and truly believe that if I can help people live in a better state of mind, this will have a ripple effect and help to create a better world for everyone.

Aside from coaching, I am passionate about running, mountain biking, and hiking on the gorgeous trails we have here in Anacortes, WA. I love to push my body in new ways and have developed a yoga practice and started cold plunging in the ocean a few years ago. I enjoy cooking good, nutritious meals for my family and friends and love trying new recipes.
